Partner Practice of St. James's Place Wealth Management
Paul studied at De La Salle Grammar School and College, where he studied Geography, Maths and Economics to A level. The latter two subjects set him on his career path early and he joined Lloyds Bank straight from De la Salle in 1982. At Lloyds his trainee duties started him on a solid grounding of banking clerk and counter duties, which Paul now describes as mundane, but realises that grass roots experience is vital in a financial career.
Over 11 years Paul attained Assistant Manager status, dealing mainly with small businesses across Merseyside, the Wirrall and Southport, plus a spell in the branch at India Buildings in Liverpool, the classic Grade II listed building that most people know as the ‘Passport Building,’ although it no longer houses a bank branch, Paul notes. Paul moved on briefly to the Prudential in his first regulated role, but after less than two years he decided to move back into mainstream banking with Abbey National. There, from 1995, he found his role as a Financial Adviser much more rewarding, a role which allowed him to develop client relationships in more depth. Of course Abbey National evolved into Abbey PLC, before purchase by Santander in 2004 and subsequently the full brand change to Santander in 2011.
2013 saw Paul taking his next career move with Bright Wealth Management and the opportunity to develop further the client relationships which, he says, make him tick. Paul is enjoying working with clients and the wide range of financial offerings available through Bright. “I want to build relationships and give clients the quality time they deserve.” A die-hard - and 3rd generation - Evertonian, Paul and his wife have two daughters of 22 and 19, with their eldest daughter set on a career in drama and youngest daughter studying ‘Critical Thinking’ at college, pluys a boy of 6. Paul’s wife is a paramedic and so an eclectic mix of ages and interests keep the Rimmer household constantly on the boil!
